CMA POLICIES
Effective January 2026
We are excited to have you as part of Capstone Music Academy! These policies are designed to ensure a positive, fair, and productive experience for students, families, and instructors. If you have any questions, please reach out.
Lesson Rates
Rates are $125–$150 per month for a weekly 30-minute lesson. These rates are based on the instructor's background, experience, and demand. Prices are subject to change, but enrolled students are locked into their current rate until they discontinue lessons.
Payment Terms
Payment for the entire month is due on or before the first lesson of the month. We accept cash, check, and secure online ACH payments via email invoice (credit/debit available by request, $5 transaction fee). Please make all checks payable to Capstone Music Academy.
All tuition payments are non-refundable but may be applied as a credit toward future lessons where applicable.
A $15 late fee will be applied to payments received after the 15th of the month. Lessons may be suspended if payment is not received within 30 days.
Cancellations and Make-Up Lessons
To qualify for a make-up lesson, you must provide at least a week’s notice in writing (text, email, etc.) prior to the original lesson time. For emergencies (e.g., sudden illness), 24 hours' notice may be accepted at the instructor's discretion. Cancellations with less notice, including no-shows, will result in the lesson being forfeited.
There is a limit of one make-up lesson per month, scheduled at the instructor's convenience. Additional cancellations in the same month will be forfeited.
No make-ups are available for group lessons, band clinics, or toddler classes.
If the instructor cancels a lesson, it will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
There will be no make-up lessons for student cancellations during Spring Break, Fall Break, or Thanksgiving week (Monday–Wednesday). We simply cannot accommodate the mass cancellations. Lessons for those weeks will be forfeited if canceled.
In the event of mass cancellations (e.g., due to weather), one designated make-up day will be scheduled at the instructor's convenience or lessons may shift to virtual format if feasible.
Holidays and Closures
Lessons will not be held on the following holidays: New Year's Eve/Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday), and Christmas break (all students receive 3 lessons in the month of December). Since there is no extra charge for months with a fifth lesson day and those fifth lessons are effectively "free", there are no refunds or make-ups for holidays and holiday breaks; this is all factored into the monthly tuition.
Music Resources and Practice Expectations
We do provide music/materials occasionally but most required books and materials are the student's responsibility to purchase; we can provide recommendations and links. Students are encouraged to practice 4–5 days per week to maximize progress.
Discontinuation of Lessons
Notice of discontinuation must be given in writing (email, text, etc.) at least one month prior to the last desired lesson. Students remain enrolled and will be charged until proper notice is received.
In special circumstances (e.g., relocation or medical hardship), prorated adjustments may be made at the academy's discretion.
No refunds or credits are given for mid-month discontinuations.
The academy reserves the right to discontinue lessons for repeated non-payment, disruptive behavior, etc.
Additional Terms
Students agree to cover any collection costs, including but not limited to collection fees and attorney fees, if necessary.
We appreciate your commitment to these policies, which help us maintain a high-quality learning environment. Thank you for choosing Capstone Music Academy!
